The Marietta Family YMCA will open a new initial phase 1,300-square foot fitness and wellness facility on The week of January 6th. The facility will be located at Complex 1, Building 3 of Broughton Business Park, 639 St Rt 821, just outside of Marietta. which is part of Broughton Commercial Properties, LLC. The site will feature a wide offering of health and fitness classes with strength and cardio equipment to follow.

“This is an exciting time for the Marietta Family YMCA,” said Rick Smith, chief volunteer officer and chairman of the board for the Marietta Family YMCA. “We have reached a point where we are outgrowing our current facility at 1303 Colegate, and we have a need to move our group fitness classes into a new facility, eventually allowing us to also offer treadmills and other strength machines to complement our fitness classes.”

The currently YMCA, which houses child care and group fitness programs, will become child care only, allowing more enrollment and better flexibility in the use of the current space. The new facility will feature and serve as the hub for aerobics, group fitness, Silver Sneakers, and potential new offerings, like hot yoga, outdoor exercise, etc.

“The staff has identified a need, projected a pathway to success, and the Board supports their vision,” said Smith. “The new facility is the right size for what our community needs, and we will continue to serve our mission as we have all along.”

The new facility is expected to open in early- or mid-January 2020. Hours of operation, membership prices, and other information will be publicized on their website (http://mariettaymca.org/) once it’s solidified.

“We look forward to the community joining our fitness center and taking advantage of our classes, our upgraded fitness machines, and continuing to be a part of our YMCA family,” said Smith.
