Aprons and railings were recently extended on the East Bridge on the Devola Multi-Use Trail as part of a continuous improvement plan for safety, thanks to a grant from the Washington County Health Department. The project is a collaboration between the Devola Multi-Use Trail Committee and The Broughton Foundation.

The work done by Doug Lowe Construction has been completed and the bridge is open. These changes have no adverse effect on the Devola Trail or Trail parking lot on State Route 821. The DMUT parking lot is also convenient to the Elizabeth Sugden Broughton Community Building, Disc Golf, hiking and mountain biking trails, and the pavilion and grounds.

As part of its mission to develop, manage and maintain the Broughton Nature and Wildlife Education Area, The Broughton Foundation leadership, in conjunction with board members, the DMUT Committee and other volunteers, continually assesses Park facilities and plans ahead for continuous improvements to be made for safety, utility and convenience as funds become available from grantmakers, individuals, community organizations, businesses, and other Foundation supporters.
