Broughton Restoration Workday, Sun, Dec 1, 1-4 PM

Dear Friends of the Broughton Nature Preserve,

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday.

Let’s show our thanks to Nature (and the Broughton family!) by doing some restoration work this Sunday 1-4PM in our beautiful nature preserve.

Now is the best time of year to cut invasive shrubs–the plants and critters are asleep, and the invasives are still showing their leaves! I promise–you will stay warm!

We will continue cutting invasive brush around the

GWB Complex #3 pond.  (See directions below).  If the weather conditions are right we can also now burn the brush we have already cut.

We will provide tools, gloves, snacks (hot chocolate!), and good company.

Hope to see some of you on Sunday.

Directions to GWB Complex #3 (GWB #3 pond):

  1. Enter the GWB Complex #3 off State Route 821.  It is the complex nearest the entrance/exit off Interstate 77.
  2. Go up the hill to the first set of buildings.  Turn left.
  3. Proceed all the way to the end of these buildings.  Head down to the pond—it is straight ahead, down a pretty steep drive.
