Dear Friends of the Broughton Nature Preserve,
As many of you know I spread my volunteer stewardship efforts at both the Broughton Nature Preserve and the Ohio River Islands Wildlife Refuge.
Both are amazing public spaces for people to experience and learn about nature in our area.
On Sunday, Oct. 13th, from noon to 3PM, the Friends of the Ohio River Islands is hosting its 2nd Annual Walk for the Wild 2024.  This is a 5K Run/Walk to promote the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge–Middle Island is one of the few islands you can get to without a boat!.  Right here in the mid-Ohio Valley is a National Wildlife Refuge, protecting 24 islands on the Ohio River between Pittsburgh and Cinncinati.
It is also a fundraiser for our Friends group.  The money we raise will support tree & native flower plantings, trail building, and the hiring of interns to support the Refuge’s mission.
Here is the link to register for the 5K Walk/Run (it is free), and also a button to make a donation.
We would love to see you in St. Marys on Sunday the 13th!  You can register on-line or at the event.
P.S.  Feel free to forward this message to friends and relatives!
